Terms of Service
Last updated:
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Concord Health platform at concordhealth.ca ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Nature of the Service
Concord Health is an informational tool only. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not determine clinical trial eligibility.
The Service matches self-reported or clinician-verified patient information against publicly available clinical trial eligibility criteria from ClinicalTrials.gov. Results are intended to support — not replace — conversations between patients and their healthcare providers. Only the trial site can confirm eligibility after proper screening.
Concord also provides an optional, free enrolment-help service: if you ask, a person at Concord will help you understand how to approach a study team. This is assistance with the approach only. Concord does not screen you, does not determine or predict eligibility, does not guarantee any response from a study team, and receives no payment from you for this help.
You can reach the person helping you at help@concordhealth.ca.
3. Eligibility
The Service is available to individuals who are at least 18 years of age. Clinician accounts are available to licensed healthcare professionals in Canada. By registering as a clinician, you represent that you hold a valid professional license.
Explorer accounts are for personal, non-commercial use. One account per person.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure. You may delete your account at any time from your profile. We may suspend accounts used to scrape, abuse, or misrepresent. We will notify account holders of material changes to these Terms by email.
5. Looking for Someone Else
If you use the Service on behalf of another person, you confirm you have their agreement or legal authority to do so.
6. User Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
- You must not use the Service to impersonate a healthcare professional.
- You must not use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- You must not attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
- You must not submit false or misleading medical information.
7. No Medical Advice
Nothing on this platform constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The matching results are generated by comparing your self-reported data against published eligibility criteria. These results may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always consult your healthcare provider before making any decisions about clinical trial participation.
Our educational content (Spotlight, plain-language explainers, glossary) is general information about clinical research, not advice about your situation.
8. Clinician Referrals
When a clinician uses the Service to refer a patient to a clinical trial site, the clinician is exercising their own independent clinical judgment. Concord Health facilitates the transmission of referral information but does not endorse, recommend, or guarantee any particular trial, site, or treatment. The referring clinician retains full responsibility for the referral decision.
9. Fees
The Service is free for patients and caregivers and will remain so. Concord may in future charge research organizations for services; nothing about that will ever change what patients pay, and no patient information is provided to any organization without that patient's specific consent.
10. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal and health information in compliance with PIPEDA and PHIPA.
11. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, and content (excluding clinical trial data sourced from ClinicalTrials.gov), is the property of Concord Health Inc. Clinical trial data is sourced from the U.S. National Library of Medicine and is in the public domain.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Concord Health Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation, damages arising from reliance on trial matching results, referral outcomes, or any interruption of service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, if any.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that clinical trial data is complete, current, or accurate, or that any particular trial site is currently enrolling patients.
14. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be directed to hello@concordhealth.ca. Privacy questions go to our Privacy Officer at privacy@concordhealth.ca.
