Phase 3
A large study comparing a treatment against the current standard.
What it means
Phase 3 studies enrol the largest numbers, often across many hospitals and countries, and compare the new treatment against the current standard or a placebo.
Why it matters if you take part
These are the studies regulators typically rely on when deciding whether to approve a treatment. They are usually the closest to ordinary care in how often you are seen.
