A middle-stage study looking at what a treatment does and watching for side effects.
What it means
Phase 2 studies enrol more people than Phase 1 — often up to a few hundred — and look at what the treatment does in the condition it is meant for, while continuing to monitor safety.
Why it matters if you take part
By this stage there is early safety information, but the treatment is not yet proven and is not approved for general use.
