The decision is theirs. Whether to look into a clinical trial — or not — belongs to the person who would take part, together with their care team. Some people want every option in front of them; others don't. Declining is a complete answer.
What a trial is, and isn't. A clinical trial is research. It exists to answer a question that isn't settled yet, which means nobody knows how it will turn out — including the people running it. Taking part can mean more appointments, more tests, and travel. It is one option among others, not a better one.
Their care team has information a listing doesn't. A trial can look like a fit in a registry and be ruled out for reasons that never appear there — other conditions, medications, timing, treatment history. Trial listings are best brought to a doctor as a question.
What screening involves. Trial sites screen carefully, and many people who enquire are not eligible — often for reasons unrelated to how unwell someone is. Anyone who does take part can stop at any time, without giving a reason and without it affecting their care.
